So how can CISOs overcome these challenges?

Roger Grimes, KnowBe4’s Data-Driven Defense Evangelist, is a 30-year computer security consultant, instructor, holder of dozens of computer certifications and an award-winning author of 13 books and over 1,000 magazine articles on computer security. He now serves as the Data-Driven Defense Evangelist for KnowBe4. He has worked at some of the world’s largest computer security companies, including Foundstone, McAfee and Microsoft. Grimes holds a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University. He was the weekly security columnist for InfoWorld and CSO magazines from 2005-2019.

An expert in Machine Learning, AI, Data and Automation, as an advisor, engineer, investor, and product consultant, he helps turn ideas into successful companies. Previously, he worked in marketing, product design, and software engineering at various successful startups and venture-backed private companies including Coverity (acquired by Synopsys), Omneon (acquired by Harmonic), Topspin (acquired by Cisco), and Procket Networks (acquired by Cisco). Prior to Maxwell, Rutul founded Bright Funds, an online platform for corporate giving, helping employees donate to the causes that they care about. Rutul earned his MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.

Adrian Ludwig

Chief Trust Officer Atlassian
Adrian Ludwig is the Chief Trust Officer at Atlassian. He is responsible for Atlassian’s security, risk & compliance and privacy practices. Adrian joined the company in May 2018 and previously held the role of Chief Information Security Officer where he oversaw Atlassian’s security team and initiatives. Prior to joining Atlassian, Adrian held a number of leadership positions, including building out the security capabilities at Nest, Macromedia, Adobe, and Android (Google). As a self-described hacker in his early years, Adrian was recruited by the Department of Defense when he was 16. They put him through college and, after graduation, put him to work for several years finding security flaws in cryptographic and computer network systems. He holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in Mathematics from Williams College.

Karl Schulmeisters

VP of Engineering Interactio
Kārlis Schulmeisters is the VP of Engineering at Interactio.io. Interactio provides Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) services through the cloud, enabling clients like the European Parliament and the United Nations to hold meetings with full real-time interpretation while working remotely or in hybrid setups. Kārlis started his career as a Systems Developer in Microsoft, where he worked on the original Windows NT LAN Manager password and Identity Control System development. Here, he was also responsible for the Global Identity Architecture using the Kerberos-based Active Directory. As a Senior Consulting CTO at Unisys Corporation, Kārlis collaborated on RealId and other security projects. Additionally, he has been involved in the design and management of IoT-based security solutions and has a strong foundation in Cloud and NLP/AI environments. Kārļis’ favorite example of security: “You do not use a 10,000 EUR safe to protect a 10 EUR note, but you also don’t store 10,000 EUR in cash simply locked in your desk drawer. Security and safe human behavior are inherent in the cost and risk analysis and tradeoff.”
